Handcrafted notebook covers for Field Notes & Traveler's Notebook.
Each piece is cut, shaped, and finished by hand.
Happy Jack Journal Covers grew out of my love for Japanese craftsmanship and the simple, no-nonsense utility of Field Notes. It all really started with an idea that stuck with me—if something is worth thinking about, it's worth writing down. That belief was shaped during my freshman-year English class with Professor Charles Hicks, whose passion for the written word made a lasting impression on me. He drilled into us that putting pen to paper turns thoughts into something real and tangible.
I've always loved the compact size of Field Notes, but carrying them loose in my back pocket meant they didn't last very long. Over the years, I went down the rabbit hole looking for the "perfect" cover. I tried ones with pockets, sleeves, and card slots, but they quickly turned into bulky, cluttered, two-inch-thick bricks—hardly something I wanted to sit on all day.
